Please allow me a few min of your time to give you feedback on my experience of using an recruiting agency in finding me a temporary/permanent assignment.
As you know, to be without a job, can be a very stressful experience. Although there are always jobs available, you normally don’t know where to start looking, or who to contact to secure an interview. I’ve tried several times to send my CV directly to companies that I know are in the market of hiring new employees, but never received feedback – most probably because I didn’t had the correct person’s details to send my CV. By registering my CV at an recruiting agency, I had the insurance of meeting the highly professional account manager/recruiter. The recruiter always knows what their client is looking for, and just by talking to you, they normally know if you are what their clients are looking for.
One big advantage from registering your cv with a recruiting agency is that you don’t have to be always online searching for new jobs, especially those that doesn’t have a home computer or not connected on the internet. They will do the “searching” on your behalf.
One for the biggest value is the constant feedback you received from the recruiting companies. They will keep you updated on new positions that will be suitable for you, and they will keep you updated on all positions they send your CV to. Once an interview is secured, they will support you with What to do and what not to do at the interview, what kind of questions to expect, what to wear and how to handle the interview.
After the interview there will be constant feedback on how the interview went, what you did wrong, areas of improvement as per the interview panel’s recommendation. If you secured a second interview, the recruiting agent will keep you updated on the time, place and who you will meet at the second interview. They will help you prepare for the interview by guiding you with possible questions that will be asked at the interview.
They will again provide you with feedback after the interview and keep you updated with any news from their client. If you are the candidate for the position, they will be in contact with you and keep you updated on the salary package, benefits and will send you a copy of the appointment letter weather permanent or a contract position. They will arrange everything on your behalf with the new employer and all what is expected from the candidate is to start on the agreed date and time.
The first day at any new company can just be as stressful, and the recruiting agency is fully aware of that. They will support you by giving you a call early in the morning to wish you luck for the day and making sure you arrived on time at the new employer’s site. Towards the end of the day they will give you another call to make sure your “survived” the day. They will also support you by giving you regular feedback from their customer about you (if any) they are also there so support you with anything during your temporary contract. Should there be any feedback from your side, you can address it with the recruiter from the agency that can address it with the correct person at the company you are working.

Through the various contracts I gained invaluable experience in different roles at different organisations while earning a market related salary.
This ultimately enabled me to find permanent employment with one of your clients.
I firmly believe that AOC and similar labour broker organisations fulfill a very important role in the labour market.
The prospective jobseeker will find temporary employment in a shorter period of time than in the case with permanent employment.
This not only provides the jobseeker with almost immediate income but also the opportunity to gain more experience while seeking permanent employment.
The employers on the other hand are more willing to employ on a contract basis, as it provides them with the opportunity to assess the assignee before offering permanent employment.
At other times the employer might just be seeking an employee on a temporary basis to fulfill a specific task at a given time that is essential to their business. At these critical times they can rely on organisations such as AOC to provide them with experienced staff, on a timeous basis. This function is an essential part of sustained economic development.

Joining A-O-C a few years ago was the best move I could make career wise especially during theses turbulent financial times. I have always found myself employed, whether it be a short termed assignment or one that stretched over a few months. I enjoy the variety offered by these assignments and always find myself operating at optimum levels to offer the client the best possible service.
